Darkest Dungeon - Ode to Mods Update

Nov 4, 2026

We’ve just pushed a new build of Darkest Dungeon to all PC platforms. This update has no new additional in-game content from us at Red Hook, but it does include a ton of incredible modding feature improvements.

When we returned to do work for The Fire’s Edge we had a tough job ensuring that we didn’t cause any real unintended changes to the existing modding community. During this process, our team reached out to prominent modders to assist with testing their mods on the new build, as well as getting them early access to all the new systems. It was awesome to have them participate in this return and we are very grateful for their time and bug reports!

While testing our initial release, the modders asked if it would be okay to compile a list of long standing requests that they had built up over the years. The dream was that if we had some spare cycles we could add some of these requests post release as we completed our work with consoles and other hotfixes.

They showed up with a massive, extensively organized and vetted list of requests. We decided to extend development an additional month to support this work directly, and get their help with testing these new additions. Thanks to them, we’ve added an amazing amount of new and improved features that will hopefully bring in yet another amazing era of Darkest Dungeon mods.

If you would like to see the total sum of additions and changes please refer to this document the testers/creators put together: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zkAFFAiRS-q11wW06DiSHo5QSGyzACnXgr8CAxW1dfY/edit?tab=t.x0y9ern28ubv

We want to give particular shout outs to Slightly Seal, Sasiji, Zahara (SortingHelment), ferMint, OoMNagent, Vintage, Cryptix, CerebralCloud92, Merteno, Orimurax(Sting), TheAwkwardHeady, Ysak, Gathin, Syrina, Ironlord, Cood_Alume(Void), PepperBloom, Azelfie, Marvin Seo, and all the other creators and testers who helped in this effort. It was really their testing and support that allowed us to move through this work so swiftly.

We also want to thank our co-development team of Flying Rat. They have been an incredible partner in all of this and we couldn’t have done it without them.

We are so proud of Darkest Dungeon. We are also in constant awe of the support that is still given to the game all these years later. This update is our way of showing our appreciation to this community. We cannot wait to see what you all cook up next.

Thank you from all of us at Red Hook.

PS. The new Mod Manager is in its final stages of testing and we hope to deploy it tomorrow to retail.Â
