“I’m just glad it didn’t turn into anything worse.” said Poignant.
Bonel walked back to his friend and new friend, satisfied with how everything turned out.
“Now that’s over, I’m curious about that brothel I had heard about…” Bonel said as he put his arm Herbard.
“Wanna come along Herbie? May call you Herbie?”March 3, 2015 at 8:52 pm #15487
“We’ve got eyes on you folks. You seemed to know him.” The men gave dirty looks to the Jester. “Hope you have eyes on the back of your head.” They left.
I was not caught
Though many tried
I live among you

Bonel merely shrugged at the statement before looking back to Herbard.
“So whaddya say?”March 3, 2015 at 8:57 pm #15490
“Yes, well, I don’t think I can stop you from calling me whatever you want.” He shrugged. “Bar fights, death threats, drinks. Might as well complete the grand tour of the town with a visit. Doesn’t look like the most sanitary place in the world, though.”March 3, 2015 at 9:01 pm #15491
“I’m sure we’ll be fine! Hey, why don’t you come along too Poiny?”
Poignant stuttered awkwardly.
“Uh…well, if there’s a place I can just sit and read, then I suppose…”March 3, 2015 at 9:19 pm #15495
After the plague doctor showed up, things got a bit hectic, and Varus found himself playing casual observer to the events unfolding before him. He followed the others out behind the tavern, but did not insert himself until the question of Poignant’s entering the brothel came up.
“You may remain with me, if you like. I’ve a mind to find somewhere quieter anyway,” Varus says, finally speaking up. “I’ve still got a few books in my pack from last trip out. You might find interest in one or two.”March 3, 2015 at 9:28 pm #15496
“O-oh, it’s fine really. B-but thank you for the offer.” the doctor stuttered.
“If you really don’t wanna come, it’s fine.” Bonel said to her.
“I know how much you like a quiet setting and it probably won’t be very quiet in there…But still, go ahead!”
Bonel gave her a light push towards Varus. Poignant fidgeted once again.
“…Fine then. But let me just talk with Herbard quickly.”
The jester raised a brow under his mask.
“Just let me do it!” Poignant said as she walked to Herbard and gestured for him to lean in.March 3, 2015 at 9:42 pm #15498
He turned to face her. “What would you like to talk about? I’d imagine Varus has a good amount of books with him. I’d think that’d be your thing.”March 3, 2015 at 9:47 pm #15499
Poignant sighed and toned her voice down to a whisper.
“This may sound strange but…just please try to keep an eye on Bonel. Make sure he doesn’t do anything crazy there or anywhere else.”March 3, 2015 at 9:55 pm #15500
“Will do. Never really planned to stay there long.” He stepped back. “We’ll probably be back soon, I think. That place looks a bit unclean.”March 3, 2015 at 9:59 pm #15502
Poignant stepped back.
“Thank you.” she said as she walked over to Varus. “You two have fun there…”
“We will! C’mon Herbie!”March 3, 2015 at 10:08 pm #15505
He paused a moment, then approached the front doors of the building. For a moment he wasn’t sure if the splintered, faded door would stay on its hinges if made to move. Herbard pushed open the door and stepped inside.March 3, 2015 at 10:08 pm #15506
Varus also raises an eyebrow at Poignant’s behavior, but merely offers Bonel a slight shrug as she moves away. After her brief conversation with Herbard, Varus watches the other two depart in silence before speaking again.
“You have a rather peculiar friend. You should keep him close, beyond the edges of the hamlet. Anyway, quietest place here is the graveyard, but theres a hollow not quite so grim along the back wall. ‘Tis where I go to find peace these days,” he says, gesturing for her to follow him as he heads towards the ranks of gravestones and the low stone wall surrounding them.March 3, 2015 at 10:24 pm #15511
Poignant followed the bounty hunter as he showed her the way while also hoping for Bonel to stay out of trouble
After Poignant left, Bonel ran inside the brothel after Herbard opened the door.March 3, 2015 at 10:30 pm #15512
The interior was just as underwhelming as the outside. An attempt had been made at decorating, with floral rugs along the floor and pastel, perfumed curtains draped dusty windows. People, mostly men but a couple women, sat at tables.
“Really, I don’t know what I’d expected.” He said, scanning the room.
