This thread will essentially mimic the other Weald thread,

    Darkest Roleplay (Weald)

It will allow another expedition to expedite into the Weald without clustering the OG thread.
This thread should not be used unless the main thread is occupied.

That being said, basics apply here; follow general honor-code rules. More acute rulings will be dictated by other DM’s. Other DM actions may or may not lend precedence to a current issue, depending on circumstances.

[Huzzah! Let’s crack on, shall we..?]
[[ I will also be using a solid-ish system to handle combat, mildly inspired by XCom’s mobility-based combat.
Players will have 2-3 actions to use as they see fit; they can move 3 meters (or ~10 ft) per action. This includes vertical movement
Once within melee range of the foe(~1m for most, 2m for spear and halberds, and tree trunks), players will be locked in combat; movement will cause the foe to have a free swing at the other. This works visa versa
You can enter a guard/parry stance for one action.
Lunges can engage targets up to 3 meters and beyond.
Crusaders need two actions to swing their sword. As do Hellions, though they can strike from 3m and lunge.
    Bounty Hunters need one.
Abominations get one more action (3) when they transform.]]
[[[If there’s confusion, feel free to post in the OOC and/or poke me on Steamu :D]]]

She huffed, pulling down a knot of thorned vines that strangled the iron bars that led into the Weald. The Trek had been long… quiet. Everyone no doubt saying their prayers or farewells, or what they’ll do with gold.
“This is it, boys and girls.” She sighed, levity in her tone but she couldn’t make herself laugh. Taas took a step back from the oval gate, back into the small clearing roughly ten meters of meek underbrush in all directions.
She shrugged the weight of the entire party’s supplies into a better position on her shoulder as she looked to her posse.
“Let’s distribute our stuff then.” Taas ordered, letting the sack down gingerly; hoping not to break any of the vials or the like kept inside. She opened up the sack and picked out some essentials….

[Everyone can choose to grab 4 of any supply now, make it count, converse with your party.
There can be a total of 6 consumables (Anti-venom, bandages, spare torches, shovels, etc.)]
You can utilize any item available in the supply stage of a Dungeon Run.

For example, Taas will be hauling
    -Taas-
    x12 Foodstuffs
    x4 Torches
    x1 Bandage
    x1 Herbal Supplement

    As the essentials.

You Three remaining members must share a pool of 6 supplies:
if one member takes two supplies, that leaves 4 total supplies in the pool.

The ice of Matilda’s eyes sparkled as keenly as a blade’s edge in the light that managed to pierce the canopy of trees and cloud cover. In some ways she felt more at home here, away from the majority of the Hamlet’s populace she felt calmer in some ways… more serene.

Too calm, to serene… her nose wrinkled at the faint stench the Estate seemed to give out by osmosis, a taint that always faintly clung to the inside of her nostrils – threatening to lull her mind away from being focused.

The young woman let out a huff and snapped back to reality – there was work to be done, plain and simple; she was hoping to clarify that she was indeed useful despite her lack of speech. As Taas showed the supplies available Matilda was immediately drawn to the food – greedily her paw snatched three portions of food and a bandage for good measure; stuffing them into the many folds of her layers of clothing for safe keeping. She looked expectantly at the others with a grin.

Mithra some antivenom from the provisions bag.She stowed the antivenom in her pockets ,like she had done many times before where they wouldn’t hinder her nor be damaged. She then returned Matilda’s grin with one of her own, possibly a little more predator like as the possibility of a battle on Thier trek here enticed her.

    Villon

Villon rested his axe upon the ground and kneeled near the sack. Looking inside the sack, Villon took a torch and placed it upon his belt. Turning away from the heroes, Villon leaned against the shaft of his axe and looked upon the Weald, “Pretty fucking dead out there…” Villon grumbled impatiently.

She cleared her nose with a snort before running the back of her hand across her nostrils; sighing as she looked at the others.
Her own rather weighty pack was slung across her back, hugged tightly against her back thanks to the same leather strap which held her axe. She set down the remaining supplies down beside the oval gate and sighed, if it was there when they came back, all the better. If not… oh well.
Taas looked back to her new comrades with a confident smile, though tired in the eyes.
“Pack’ll be here, when we come back through these…” She looked up at the gate and patted the wrought iron bars,
“… These… lovely, pearly gates here. ‘Case we need some emergency scraps for you moss-growers.” She chuckled, tapping her chin as she bowed her head.

Snow fell lightly ‘neath the canopy-dead; giving the demesne of terror an aura of queer beauty the way it caught the pale rays of light and shone brightly where those spears of luminescence struck.
Flakes drifted betwixt branches, strangely bright amongst the drab trunks and inky ichor sap of the Weald. Regardless, Taas opened the gate which squealed in protest of the movement. Snow was pushed aside with a soft hiss and for what seemed too long of the gate’s wailing, the gates were held ajar. Within was a stark absence of things. Snow was disheveled, and the mad scattering of some beast was evident in the earth some three meters before them.
The tracks were largely indecipherable, but undeniably recent. No blood stained the snows, which beckoned more welcome than most of the Darkest Estate.

Taas took a breath and began down the path, past the tracks, deeper into the Weald’s floral, macrocosmic depths. . .

“Not me, I have other things to believe in. Like beasts that can pop out of nowhere attracted to the sound of us talking.” Mithra said keeping an eye out for anything suspicious ahead of the party.

Villon unplucked his axe from the ground and began removing the dirt upon the end of the shaft, but was also interested in what a vaettir, “The fuck is a vaettir?” Villon asked, removing a large clump of dirt from the side of the end shaft as he spoke.

Matilda did not know of the thing that Taas was speaking about – nor did she particularly care to unless it was going to become a problem later. The young woman scowled at the others fairly loud conversation – she was rather enjoying the slight macabre, silent beauty this place held.

She’d not be caught of guard for anything – inside the folds of her fabric she held the hilt of her short-sword. Let them have their conversation, you can’t join in anyway. Her pale, pale eyes continued to scan the landscape.

    She shook her head,
“We’ve only just begun, what’s the worst that could happen?” Taas jested, chuckling as she flourished her hand as though discarding the ‘worst that could happen’. “At anyrate, a vaet–” She paused her explanation as she paused; A tree trunk, wrested from its earthen home with roots vainly spider-webbing into the frigid air. The roots were full well up in the air, with the main of the trunk buried in the snow.
Boldly, Taas jogged ahead to the trunk itself; a massive corpse lay thinly veiled in the snow, gargantuan in size, fungus meekly dying in the cold and lack of warm host. The body was humanoid, though where its presumably large head would be, was only a crumpled, bludgeoned and bloody mass. Bits of bone protruded from the gore, a beady eye hung from what could only be the remains of the skull; lucky that it had not been popped like its bretheren, it now froze in the winter. Many heavy animal furs were hugging its chest, though those about its neck were well and bloodied.
“… S’only a day, maybe three fresh, I says; whattyou lot make of it?” She asked, looking about a little too casually into the weald… Perhaps, almost expectantly.

Matilda grunted in annoyance she knew exactly what she made of it and couldn’t articulate what she meant. Maybe if I…

She walked on a tiny ways – away from the group and into virgin snow, with a deft digit she scrawled ‘someone else here’ into the white blanket.

We’ve company. With two fingers she pointed to her own eyes and then with the same hand gestured around her – a universal sign for ‘keep your eyes open’ in any case.

    Villon

Villon looked down at the snow as Matilda kneeled and shivered slightly from the cold, and noticed the message she had etched into the pale snow. Tightening his grip upon his hefty axe, Villon looked over to the corpse, “Possibly some hounds, maybe a brigand patrol…” Villon warned, squinting into the brush of the Weald.
