Everything Burns

Everything Burns

[Pre-Release Access until May 19th]

In today’s update, we’re thrilled to be adding over 40 different Town Events to the Hamlet.  Upon returning from a quest, you may find things are not as you left them!

This update will release in the main branch on Thursday, May 19th on all storefronts (Steam, GOG, and Mac App Store.). However, if you want to help test this content before the main release, you can do so by opting into the “coming_in_hot” Beta branch on Steam.  See full instructions below.

**Please note that this is a BETA branch, and you may encounter bugs and/or unfinished content. We recommend backing up your saves before trying it.**

This update is also of special significance, as it completes the last of the Kickstarter game feature stretch goals. Huzzah! (Now we will move on to producing the Kickstarter physical goods.)

Changelist for Build #14487:

  • TOWN EVENTS – bonus recruits, extra supplies, facility closures, and more!  Each event is presented with unique key art and commentary by the Narrator (Wayne June), and many are supported with additional in-game art.  Be warned, The Hamlet is not as safe as it once was… (Note: you can adjust the frequence of Town Events in the OPTIONS menu, although they are mandatory for NG+)
  • Hamlet Polish: Various lighting FX and smoke added to the Hamlet.
  • Added a Default Party Order Button, find it on your Map in a dungeon!
  • Loot All – now keybound to SPACEBAR
  • Credits – Accessible from the options menu, we are proud to list thousands of backers who helped bring this project to life! Oh, and us too.
  • ESC and ENTER now dismisses Single Prompt Confirmation Windows (i.e. full inventory warning prompt)
  • Added confirm for when you don’t have any combat skills selected.
  • Jester “Finale” skill now hits with more punch! John’s plan of Jester domination is slowly coming to fruition.
  • Fixed missing Antiquarian loot tables
  • Fixed riposte bugs with stats not applying from riposte skill.
  • Click to skip quirk-driven curio interaction bark.
  • Fix to estate not being saved when heroes are dismissed. (This will fix trinkets getting lost in town.)
  • Trap disarm tooltip in tray now takes difficulty into account to accurately display chance.
  • Fixed up tooltips for Russian localization
  • Fix heirloom exchange bugs.
    • Fixed max not being accessible for transfer amounts.
    • Fixed not being able to close it when it’s open and you purchase in such a way that you end up with 0 heirlooms.
  • Adjusted ‘Field Dressing’ camping skill to fix bug
  • Fix to estate saving in provision screen resulting in lost money.
  • Fix to retreat outside of plot quest.
  • Fix to captured dead heroes (Crew, Cauldron, Siren) not dying after quest.
  • Activity log now will log stress heal with buff
  • Fixed Shambler corpses not being large
  • Fix to missing crit lines for Musketeer
  • Unequip trinket for hero who dies in retreat and add the trinket to raid finish inventory.
  • Fixed up incompatible quirks awarded at the end of a raid.

How to Opt into the Steam “coming_in_hot” Beta;

  2. Right Click on Darkest Dungeon in your Steam library
  3. Properties
  4. Betas
  5. Select “coming_in_hot” from the drop down

Back up your saves!

We recommend backing up your save files just in case! You save file can be located in these directories:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\_your_steam_id_or_something_\262060\remote

/Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Darkest

Each save is a listed as a folder starting with “profile_” and a number 0 to 2. Which corresponds to the save slot. Just make a copy or rename the folder and revert later if you run into problems.

We want to extend a sincere thanks to all our players and fans for your support of Darkest Dungeon. While this update marks the end of our Kickstarter feature commitments, it’s certainly not the last update the game will receive!  We’re honored to have found an audience for our game, and are looking forward to supporting and expanding it later in the year.

Until then, keep your torches lit, and …beware the Vvulf!

    Awesome update!
I would love to see the post-finale dungeon for the endless grind.

Awesome changes. Especially the jester one : playing stress heal-partybuff / solo – finale jester was kinda crappy since it moved your comp around for an ultimate that wasn’t that good. Now hoping it’ll pack some punch !

Thanks also for the curio quirk dialog lines skip !

    OK, what is the “Vvulf”?

Hmph, I’m fairly certain the «Vvulf» is «who». A new Hamlet-based boss most likely, judging by the update and the achievement description. The new one’s, «In Wolf’s clothing». Look it up.

    yay new update 😀

Click to skip quirk-driven curio interaction bark.

Because we all know that bastard Reynauld will try to steal the stuff in the cabinet and get bled, so might aswell get him to bleed quicker.

"Victory... a hollow and ridiculous notion..."

i just wish they make the final dungeon and every boss repeatable after finishing the game

    Dark Fury45

    Fought Vvulf today. Amazing fight.
If you wish to see it (whether you don’t have the game or are a scared little bunny who doesn’t want to go in blind) then look up “Darkest Dungeon Wolves at the Door” on youtube.
Amazing battles and an amazing trinket.

Question though : why can’t you move anymore? I mean I had a hellion, first row, i wanted to move back, i couldn’t. The button said “move forward 1” but why???

And the more i play this game the more i notice that you’re forced into playing with ACC trinkets at level 5+… kinda makes the game stale because you can’t play differently

Some heroes – the Leper and Hellion being the only two I know of – will only move forwards, not backwards. Their way of saying they desire to stand and fight.

I’m on my old save doing runs like crazy trying to get that event to come up. Any specific triggers or it is random? I just do random runs myself.

Great work guys! This Vvolf and music, I love this <3

    Give yourself to absolute pleasure . . . ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Everybody always say that I am pretty annoying to always highlight text that I read : Result, I can see the easter egg in this article. So, is it a bad habbit ?

"Cet utilisateur est un dieu majeur dans un autre contexte spatio-temporel. Ici non. Vous pouvez lui jeter des cacahuètes."

And sorry for my english misspelling, I am french 😀

I had been focusing on other games lately and came back today and was very pleasantly surprised by a town event on return from my quest.

Fantastic update! This gem is really gaining some polish.

    The Wanderer

So I already fought Vvulf and won. My question: Is he supposed to come back after you beat him? Because he’s reappeared twice and I thought he wasn’t supposed to. Any ideas?
