These wouldn’t be possible without an amazing collaboration with Trudi Castle. Each of these comics are written by our very own Chris Bourassa and Trudi is bringing them to life. Trudi has an amazing portfolio and we couldn’t be more excited for this collaboration.

As we march closer to release on January 19th, 2016 you can expect to see more of these.

To sum it up, the Highwayman was a casual bandit, but on his latest rob, he killed a woman and a child accidently, and now he tries to get over it by killing everything evil around Hamlet? Thats sick folks…i like it!

I love the direction they went with. I was expecting the highwayman to just be a robber, perhaps with a troubled childhood, who had either personal or financial reasons for dungeon fighting. Now we know that he used to kill and rob people without any migivings or remorse. Then he killed a child by accident and is subsequently burdened with traumatic guilt (the comic places more emphasis on the kid, which indicates that it was his death that really shook the highwayman). Now he fights the evil beneath the manor, either to atone for his crime or because some part of him believes he deserves the gruesome end that will likely come with it.

10/10 Red Hook. Did not see this twist coming.

They crit you right in the feels when you least expect it, and leave you in a ball of broken emotions in a corner somewhere huffing medicinal herbs hoping it will go away.

I only expect these to get better lol, I can picture them now, “Let’s give them the ones that will only Slightly confuse them” The closer it gets to launch the more we can mess with them!

I was always wondered what kind of a criminal the Highwayman was. Part of me expected him to be the noble rogue, but this is, in some ways, more interesting. Two down, twelve to go. Thirteen if we count the Merchant.

I would love to have the entire set as a digital download at hi-res. But if that’s not going to be made available, is it cool if I just download the images onto my laptop?

I have :D!! I mean its not like they don’t know who made them, And I think that they are releasing these in a tactical manner such that we can hold ourselves over until the full release of the game. Which means If I am right, that we will be seeing these fairly frequently. At least, well I hope I am right. I’m dying to know the more obscure characters origins, And I really hope they don’t stop at one per character.

I would really love these to be in actual comic form, and then in years to come add a hardback edition with all the comics inside to my bookshelf. = 3= Color me a little too hopeful though.

Wow. This just hit me deeply. And I’ll tell you guys why.

In an earlier run, I had Dismas get afflicted with “Irrational” and he started mentioning a woman here and there. He even said in combat “You have her face! How can you have her face?!” or somesuch.

So… the highwayman apparently had a woman he loved, but they couldn’t stay together.

And now we have this comic with a woman and child killed by the highwayman in a carriage. Then we get a focused pic on the child, who has a suspiciously similar hairstyle as the in-game highwayman.

THE HIGHWAYMAN KILLED HIS OWN LOVER AND BASTARD CHILD BY ACCIDENT.

Gee… I could be entirely wrong, though, but that’s going to be my headcanon from now on.

    This, basically.

I read the files a long while back and I always loved how they’d start spouting snippets of their backgrounds. This isn’t quite how I expected it’d gone down, but it makes a lot of sense; how else would he have ‘accidentally’ killed his beloved? I imagined it was in bed, though…. something about sheets. Like, perhaps he suspected her of cheating, went to kill the man involved, but got her instead. Something like that.

    This is a lot sadder.

Wherein I occasionally draw fanart and/or attempt to write a fanfic. Pick your poison (or don't, and possibly survive).

It didn’t occur to me that these were linked, but the game would be a lot more fittingly depressing if they were.

Briliant. As always the art and the morbid atmosphere is there, but seeing highwayman in a comic book action was really awesome. So he’s one of those bandit types that does have a moral code eh? It’s going to be interesting how he behaves in actual Darkest Dungeon.

@Argus- Tried to send you a PM but it doesn’t seem there is a system. You have skype or something?

If you look closely, you can see the child has the highwayman’s eyes.

To sum all of this up. It seems none of us can concretely nail down where Redhook is going to strike us next.

I’ll admit, I’m basically the internet equivalent of a hermit. For reasons I’d rather not discuss. Just thought you should know to avoid further confusion.

Eyes as in the same black voids? Kind of I suppose. The kid’s seem the tiniest bit more rounded.
