These wouldn’t be possible without an amazing collaboration with Trudi Castle. Each of these comics are written by our very own Chris Bourassa and Trudi is bringing them to life. Trudi has an amazing portfolio and we couldn’t be more excited for this collaboration.

Release is next Tuesday, Jan 19th! We won’t be doing any comics next week, but we will continue you them in the following weeks.

Damn. What do you think the father did to earn the mob’s ire? Before this, I thought that she had run away like the Grave Robber seems to have done. But the Arbalist didn’t even have a choice as to her life as a mercenary.

African decent, living in a shack in the woods. 90% Chance racism was involved.

The real question is how to unlock the bunny doll as a secret recruitable character.

Damn… I thought Lepper was sad, but this is a whole another level. You can pretty much tell there’s racism/superstition involved. Probably the town was swept by diease or something similar and some other misfortune and arbalest’s family as black people were blamed for it.

[/quote]I’ve considered the possibility of racism, but then again this universe has seemed pretty chill regarding that up until this point. Or maybe the Hamlet is just so down the tubes that people have bigger things to worry about than melanin.

There’s no insinuation of racism at all in the game universe. Get real, people.

Oh my, this is awful past of the Arbalest.
I swear, the reason that people Lynch by Arbalest’s Father is – the most despicable and frivolous reasons in the world – is due to reasons of ‘niggers’.
    Pffft, BAH!!! >:(

Wow, another great one! In the second panel, I thought it was the Highwayman at first.
And boy, the toy bunny would make a great Arbalest class ultimate trinket.
    Burnt Rabbit Toy
    + 20% DMG
    + 2% Crit
    -3 Dodge
    -5% PROT

There’s also no insinuation that The Arbalest doesn’t brown skin because she eats so much chocolate she’s constantly covered in it. However because some humans are capable of using the organ in their skull they infer and deduce its because of something logical like her race. As opposed to doubting logic and mildly taunting people for absolutely no reason other then because you’re just that toxic as a social organism.

I’m guessing you’re in Applied level classes at school. And I say in because I am inferring and deducing you’re not older then fifteen. Bye.

Woah, that’s a little too much, don’t you think?

“African decent, living in a shack in the woods. 90% Chance racism was involved.”

    Lol, now this escalated quickly.
Nice comic, but I wouldnt interpret all kinds of controversial scenes in it just for the heck of it, because one should know how that usually ends (with bitching, accusations and reports as seen here)

A girl with a genetic composition that could be equated to one of the many ethnicities of subsaharan africa in this world, living in a simple household in the woods whose plantlife may fit all kinds of moderate climazones, gets safed by a most likely related man/her father/uncle from a lynchmob of unknown ethnicity and motivation, running off with a crossbow as a last farewell gift by the man who most likely falls victim to the mob.

Because the setting is fictional and barely fleshed out it is entirely unnecessary to take bets on any kind of chances, We dont even know the shape of the world. “Africa” probably doesnt exist there, so neither does its historical relation with arabs and europeans.
Maybe the mob was of the same or mixed ethnicity and the motivations different, such as accusations of witchcraft against her mother.
Maybe they were heretics, targeted by a zealous preacher and the masses that followed him.
Maybe her father was a cutthroat and just had it coming.
Maybe the background is a genocidal campaign of the opressed reddish skinned, slant-eyed slave-caste of this kingdom whose rage finally errupted against their former negroid masters be they of rich or poor upbringing for their numbers got dwindled by desease and war-now prone to uprisings.
Maybe the literal Klu Klux Klan of europid descent in this fantasy setting wanted to make an exemple of the last blacks in town due to bigotry rooted in centurys of technological superiority and charged at the hut screaming “BURN THE NIGLET”

    We just dont know.
But we most certainly know that certain speculations bring us nowhere but senseless squabbles which should rather be held elsewhere.

You saved us a lot of time, gave a mysterious background to the Arbalest story (making it more awesome) and gave inspiration to a dozen stories more.
